Hooksett sits between Manchester and Concord in Merrimack County. About 15,400 people on 36 square miles. Interstate 93 runs through town. You will need a car.

Most people own. A typical house is worth about $407,000. If you rent, figure about $1,660. Household income is around $118,000. Broadband is common. There is zoning, so ask the town before you assume you can put a shop or a second house on the lot.

In Washington, the House seat is Chris Pappas (D), 1st District. Both U.S. senators, Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, are Democrats.

Hooksett’s own House seats are Merrimack 10 (with Dunbarton). Four seats, all Republican: Stephen Boyd (A), John Leavitt (B), Yury Polozov (A+), and Thomas Walsh (A).
What’s nearby
Grocery is about 8 minutes (Shaw’s). Hooksett Memorial School is about 5 minutes. The ER and the hospital that delivers babies are the same place, Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, about 20 minutes.
If you need a city job, Manchester is about 20 minutes from the middle of town.

A rule that changed: detached ADUs
An accessory dwelling unit is a small second home on the same lot — often called an in-law apartment. Hooksett used to allow only the attached kind. In March 2026 voters passed a zoning change that allows a detached one too, capped at 750 square feet. The vote was 1,356 to 836.
If you are buying a house
Ask the seller for the paper New Hampshire makes them give you. It covers radon, arsenic, lead, PFAS, and flood. Then look the lot up on FEMA’s flood map. Regular home insurance usually will not pay if the river comes up.
Crime in Hooksett
Hooksett has its own police. In 2024 the FBI counted 11 violent crimes and 88 property crimes. That’s 99 reports in a town of about 15,400. It is not zero.
The rest of New Hampshire is in the same neighborhood: 110 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Hooksett is not a special case.
