The line
Internet
A subscription rate is not a line on your road. Statewide, 92.9 percent of households have some broadband subscription. That number does not tell you whether fiber or cable reaches the house you are about to buy.
Check the address
Type the house address into the FCC National Broadband Map. The map is built to show which providers report service at that location, including cable, fiber, fixed wireless, and satellite. Do this before you waive an inspection, especially on a rural road.
The Broadband shade on the map is something else. It is the Census share of households that already subscribe, from the 2020–2024 survey. A town can look well connected on that shade and still have a back road with no wire.
What the town shade is for
Use the town shade to compare places at a glance. Manchester’s subscription share is 91.6 percent. Berlin’s is 82.6 percent. Colebrook’s is 83.7 percent. Those are households that subscribe, not a speed test and not a build-out map.
